SalaryExpert.com
Perhaps the best of the bunch. This site offers good salary info and an analysis of how salary data is collected and presented. A free downloadable database allows viewing of salary data for over 30,000 job titles in 45,000 US/Canadian locations and over 200 countries. They even offer a PDA version so you can ponder compensation on the go.

A frequently updated collection of industry-specific salary reports. Brief descriptions of each report and its source.

Business Week Magazine's 49th Annual Executive Pay Survey 
--This article called "Is Greed Good?" You can also get many other reports are available for a fee through their archive service.

Forbes' Magazine: Corporate America's Highest Paid CEOS
-- Forbes' annual listings of the 800 Best Paid CEO's You can see the data many ways: company name, name of an individual, rank by total compensation, state, or industry.

 CFO Compensation Survey
--Survey by CFO Magazine and William M. Mercer Inc. This includes several articles with trends, lists of top earners, and an interactive survey to see where you are in regards to the current market.   

CEO Contracts  
-- Comparison of CEO employment contracts for Fortune 500 companies. Search by company ticker, name, or director's name, or company list by name.  Good links to additional compensation info.     

Executive Compensation Advisory Services (ECAS)
--"The leading source of intelligence on senior management pay and human resources strategies for nearly 20 years." They provide you with "premier information and advice on compensation and human resources trends, issues, and competitive practices. You can review some of the bonus reports available under Publications for free, like the summary data on employment agreements offered by automotive companies.

Ecom, the Executive Compensation Database  
--You can search by company or ticker name if you are looking for a particular organization. If you are more interested in covering a particular state, industry, or industry sector, all those options are also available so you can compare varied locations or organizations in one sector. The information includes name, title, salary and bonuses, and the year that the information represents.

 

2000 Report on Local CEO Pay  
--Chart of the top 100 earners in the Washington DC area based on 1999 proxy reports. The chart breaks out salary from total compensation on the front page, but click on any CEO's name to get a full report for each person, including salary, bonus, options, education, and career highlights. Look carefully in the chart to find links to the article introducing all this and links to the Washington Post 200.

Homefair
Seven interactive tools and five re-location or home buying resource guides. The Salary Calculator, Moving Calculator and Free City Reports are most popular. Many other sites rely on Homefair as the source for their relocation information.

Money Magazine's Best Places to Live Ranking
While this site's cost-of-living computing relies on Homefair (above), its analysis of best (and worst!) places to live is compelling and complete original research. The "Find Your Best Place" section matches your criteria with appropriate cities.

USA CityLink
A comprehensive listing of U.S. states and cities with both  travel and relocation information. USA CityLink is a gateway to Web sites by states and cities, rather than an editorial comparison of different spots

--This doesn't have specific occupations, but you can see the differences between cities with its regional comparison.

Virtual Relocation
A "one-stop-shopping" relocation information and services site. Has original content, compiled statistics, relocation calculators and links to many hundreds of useful sites.

The Escape Artist
"The site for anyone interested in moving to another country - for "expatriates overseas job seekers, tax exiles, adventurers & freedom seekers"

ERI's Survey Input Assessor
--There are links from the Economic Research Center to over 200 resources for U.S. and Canadian salary surveys, plus other International Salary Surveys, and Cost of Living resources. Can be helpful reference resource, particularly for non-US salary information.
